I'm new here and I just FOUND MY ALIENS!!!!!
I had to try a few times, turned out I wasn't holding the lever long enough. I had my window down and I was standing outside my car reaching in and holding the lever. Then, I heard a different sound and out they popped owning my face with the washer fluid! I had just washed my car too. It was so fun! Ha ha! -JD

Best use is to aim them at the car next to you or person on the curb.
Otherwise they just waste alot of fluid. Unless you get alot of mud on your headlights, you'll never need them.
