Default Inst. Highway Safety - Crash Test

Did I hear correctly that the Audi A6 sustained $1000 worth of damages in the 5 mph bumper test?
Does anybody know if the TT was tested?
Any thoughts?
Thanks

I read the A6 was no damage against flat surface @ 5mph and $1000 damage against a pole @ 5mph

I can confirm that -- my boss had his A6 Avant backed into a pole and crushed the corner =(

Default The TT front bumper is rated at 2.5mph for zero damage. Recall the Canadians with the lumps on the

front of theirs to make it 5mph resistant!

Default Actually, I saw on CNN that the A6 was one of the best performers...

The worst vehicle tested was a VOLVO! Damage was more than 2 grand USD.

Default Crash test ratings for Audi vehicles

Hi WilsTTer,

I have followed the Audi vehicles Crash test performance over the last 10 years (I am sometimes exposed to automotive safety issues through my job) and they have been doing very well. In fact, the Audi 100 (predecessor to the current A6) was the first vehicle to ever get a double five star rating for crash safety in the US. I drove an Audi 100 into a Crash (no other vehicles involved) on the Autobahn in Germany about five years ago (at >70 mph) and got out of it without a bruise or scratch.

I have enclosed the link below which I just saw today that talks about the issue that you had described. It shows that the Audi outperforms most other vehicles for repair costs after a fender bender, although it is a much more expensive car than many of those listed in the article.

Hope this helps you get an idea.

http://www.auto.com/autonews/bump30_20000330.htm</a

Default Don't remind me about those hideous things!

I asked the dealer about removing them when I got it...they have no idea how or if it can be done.

I love the looks of my new car (180TTQ Silver/Grey), but I have to say that I notice those ugly, horrid things *every* time I approach the car.

Ugggh!!!
