Instrument cluster class action court docs -->
I got my "package" in the mail and basically, both the defense and plaintiff attoneys are recommending to the court that the class action be approved.
The basic argument is that not enough people objectied (37) but many more (2000) took advantage of the repair work.
Of the 55,000 vehicles and 120,000 letters sent, that's a small number of objections and so both sides cited a number of previous cases where the court decided that the preliminary ruling should become final.
So we'll have to live with the 6 year warranty from the in service date.
It was pointed out that many of the objections were based on my posting here, and the actual posting was included in the documents!! So good job, those of you who submitted an objection.
Interestingly, none of the 37 objections pointed to the attorney fees as unreasonable and this was cited by both sides as a positive for approval.

Re: None of us care about the fees. We just want our clusters fixed.
The case is not closed yet. I'm thinking of writing another objection letter for those that did not meet the 6 year window. My request would be for the very least a cluster fix through the one company that succesfully fixes the cluster for $400. BBM Remanufacturing? I would think that it wouldn't be much for Audi to cough up another $14,800 to satisfy everyone in the claim.

Depends if you're a class member or not -->
If you didn't formally remove yourself from the class, you are bound by the decision. Or you could already be a non member of the class (i.e. your car's in service date is > 6 years ago)

any of the objection letters available? I wanna see >>
to have a guideline on what to write/send in.
i have a 2000 which had two clusters changed at the dealer..once in 2003, once in 2005. now the fuel gauge is messing up (trip meter is accurate). If i could get mine fixed, that'd be nice..
thanks

I am out of that 6 year range.
So I called my dealer and they said nothing can be done at all for me. This doesn't help me as I still have half my pixels gone from time to time and speed will drop to 0 while driving once in a great while. 3 or 4 times in 40K miles I would think. If something starts happening on the out of 6 year range cars let me know.... Since I was not part of the class I am still up for a little fight. :-)

I got my packet today....
I'm writing another letter to each of the five places, along with sending my claim to the settlement administrator. This letter goes into much less detail but just reiterates the safety hazards and how the settlement is designed to exclude earlier Audi TTs - the ones with the most cluster issues.
I'm also going to include pictures of the cluster going out with the EXIF data (date/time taken).
See if it gets me anywhere...
