Instrument Cluster Question
This morning I started my car and had to run back in to get something. Once I got back and started driving I noticed that the trip computer had reset itself and the avg mpg was stuck at 6mpg.
Reached work and it was still stuck (the instantaneous mpg was working fine).
Later in the afternoon when I went out for lunch I noticed it was still stuck at 6mpg.
Once I reset it to 0, it started working fine again.
Should I be concerned? Has anyone else seen this?
Thanks.
Pal

Welcome to the world of Audi electical problems...>>>
mine has done the same thing and then some. Sometimes the illumination on the cluster will not shut off until I disconnect the battery. Other times the cluster will flicker on the LED's and the needles on all gauges are frozen to the left and I have to reset it by disconnecting the battery.

Re: Instrument Cluster Question
Audi gets the TT clusters from Marelli. The reason why Italians drink red wine is because it does not have to be refrigerated in their Marelli refrigerators... ;-)

I originally put your tube together without the koolmat. Realized the mistake and had to make a new tube up. Cleared and insulated today. I'll try o get it out tomorrow!

Thanks a ton Schwing-meister!! Can't wait to put that on and get the motor breathing better on the top end.
Thanks for the info on the cluster folks! I am guessing this is not enough of a reason to have the dealer put in a new cluster ... I am at 48K miles so 2K miles more for any such issues before I am on my own.
Marelli ... nice! That explains the electrical gremlins. I guess if Ferrari guys can deal with it, so can I

Had that happen on a new cluster...
that was only a couple of days old, back from the dealer!
The clock reset itself a couple of times. I ended up replacing the battery (it was showing signs of age), and haven't seen the cluster reset like that since. If it's your cluster, I hope you're under warrantty, otherwise it's aboout $1k.

I have a 2001 TT 225 Quatro, I have had the most amazing light show on my instrument panel. My dealer said it was fixed, but my clock will not stay where I set it. It keeps changing to a start date of 7/1/00. I have to admit it only does this after the car has been sitting for a long preiod of time. I have replaced the battery once. I do not use the car as often as I would like to, thats why I think its so hard on the battery. I have also had to replace a clutch with 7500 miles on the care just days out of warrenty, dealer made me pay, appealed to Audi, I had to pay, I'm still mad about that!
