Default No that's correct. A 235 tire should fit an 8.5" rim fine, I think that's what most folks here run

and usually jump up to 245 for 9" rims and wider. I've got 235s on 8" rims and they're not narrow on there at all, lots of rim protection.

Default I had a similar problem and for about 50.00 shipped you can be fixed

you need a stud conversion, works like a champ and I have logged over 5K with nothing but positive results using the kit.

Default Let's see what ER tells me tomorrow when I bitch at them.............

and if it's as easy as you say then I would prefer to fix the problem with your solution instead of having to return the wheels.
