Default Jason D. Bracketman... are these the subframe bolts?

These look like the big green suckers... got part numbers from my tech and ordered from dealer. Just want to make extra sure!

Default custom downpipe for exhaust requires subframe be loosened...

and the bolts are one-time use only, so they must be replaced.

Default Never heard they're one use only. Mine were loosened to adjust the front camber during alignment...

The front subframe was shifted with the bolts loose but not removed then torqued to 78lbs + 1/4 turn(if I remember right)

Default Bentley manual specifies replacing with new bolts...

then tightening them to 74 ft. lbs. plus 90 degrees, so yes, 1/4 turn.

Peter, I've spoken to three Audi techs and several folks here about these bolts. My trusted local performance shop explained that these bolts are a stretch bolt... called Torque-to-Yield, or something like that. At the base of the bolt is a non-threaded area narrower then the threaded part. This is the area that stretches when you torque the bolt, and I suspect is why the manual specifies an additional 90 degree turn. Once the bolt has been stretched once, it has done its job and should be replaced if it is ever removed. If you're really **** like me, then loosened = removed for sake of safety.

They cost $30.37 for the set in the picture... I'm going with factory specs and not taking chances.

Default Any bolt torque that specifies a torque-angle after tightening to a specified...

....torque range is indeed a stretch bolt and should be replaced. This is of course in the ideal world and very often is not done. If given the opportunity and time, then try to replace them.
