Default They brought 2 pre-production mini's to NY in 1959 (more)

I think they were shipped over on Queen Mary or Queen Elizabeth. Anyway the story goes that after 3 days of exhibition driving round New York City, they were banned from driving them again, since they'd caused so many pileups. Nobody could believe their eyes (these were the days of fins and chrome tanks, remember...) as these little things caused havoc on the freeways.

But.......um, "parking" in a Mini sounds a bit too painful to me anyway;-)

Default I saw the Mini Cooper at the Detroit Auto Show this year...

...And I've decided that it is definitely a car worth looking into getting when they make it to the states. Should be a very fun ride, especially in the 160 hp supercharged model.
