Theyr are a bit more pricey.
Try to find the 'Micro-candle' output. The one's I use are 470 micro-candles.
If RS doesn't have a 680 ohm resistor, you can use a 1K. 1/2 W is OK.

I have seen this done in many factory cars and it is hidden, out of the way and directs light to a good spot with a 3 position switch (off, on-all the time, on-key enabled)

R = (U - Uf) / If
R = Resistor in Ohm
U = Voltage of car (12V)
Uf = Voltage of LED in Volt (LED specific)
If = Amperage of LED in Ampère (LED specific)
Example:
R = (12V - 3.5V) / 0.02A = 425 Ohm
425 Ohm is the smallest resistor to use for this kind of LED.
R = Resistor in Ohm
U = Voltage of car (12V)
Uf = Voltage of LED in Volt (LED specific)
