Default WOW!! Paul that looks very neat and clean. Are you going to cover that with carpeting...

before you install the subs?

Thanks! Actually it's ULMDF, which is the same rigidity as regular MDF, but half the weight :-)

Default The shelf is actually designed to fit with only a 1/4-3/8" gap all around, and I'm going to seal the

perimeter by covering the edge of the platform with marine hatch foam weatherstripping. It's tough, and 1/2" thick. Then, in order to keep the foam from coming off with repeated removal of the platform, I'm going to roll the carpet over the edge, so it will slide easier, be slightly thicker for better sealing, and protect the foam underneath.

I'm using a combination of velcro, and the weight of the unit with drivers and amp, to keep it in place.

Default LOL. Me either. When I was at the lumber store, I was going for the regular MDF, when I saw

the other stuff, and asked the guy, "What's that?"

Once he explained it, I bought that instead. It's also about 40% more expensive than regular MDF too, but it's a dream to work with. It doesn't dull the edges on my router bits, sands easily, and has a very low formaldehyde content.
