Default Just got back from a prototype roadster evaluation...

This afternoon, I participated in an evaluation of a prototype roadster, which I later found out was a Mercedes Benz. I don't know if it is a substantial update to the SLK, or an entirely new model. It was pretty striking, both interior and exterior.

My job was to evaluate it on its own, and also versus the Audi TT, BMW M Coupe, Honda S2000, Mercedes SLK, and Porsche Boxster. Also, we evaluated 3 different interiors, and different wheel options.

It was actually a lot of fun, only took 1.5 hours, and I was paid $150, which in this market, I can use. Still, the final question was, "If you could take any of these roadsters home with you right now, which would you choose?" Of course, I chose the TT.

Is that a computer simulated crash dummy in the passenger seat?

Default Somewhat, but not exactly...

Looks like the nose is pretty close. They said that only 100 people have seen this prototype. The roof was down, so I'm not sure about the roofline. However, the top of the side windows were curved, like the TTs, so presumably the roof would be more curved as well.

I though the taillights were a bit ricey, but they were certainly different. They were clear with red and yellow bulbs. Overall, a very attractive car and a nice design. Obviously, MB is considering the TT competition in this price class. It should be a very nice car that will sell well.

The size appeared almost if not identical to the current SLK.
