Rachmaninoff Symphonic Dances for Orchestra Op. 45. Unbelievable that it was recorded in 1967 and has been at the top of many audiophiles' best sound quality lists for years.
Quite impressive in 24/96 bit DVD Audio! Fabulous sound in 5.1 stereo!

for between $500-1000. If you are into music at all, it's a good investment, as LP's not only sound better, but are the same or a little cheaper than dvd's. It would also be invaluable to have a few LP, CD, and DVD/SACD's all of the same recording, as it would give you a frame of reference to compare them. You'd be amazed how even an inexpensive analog rig will exceed a digital anything. Oh, and turntables are easily the coolest hi-fi product you can own too :-)
BTW, if you bought the Classic Records' 24/96 DAD, which is DAD-1004, that transfer is from the original analog master, which in this case was a: 1/4" 2-track at 30ips. What this means is that if you really want to hear the sound as close to the original, listen to it in 2-channel mode, and forget the contrived 5.1, and you will hear the true hall ambiance.
If you like that recording, may I also recommend another: Ramirez, Misa Criolla. Also, if you indeed bought the Classic Records' DAD of the Rachmaninoff classic, then you should check out the company and it's catalog. Classic Records is one of the best in the business, both at producing digital reissues, as well as LP reissues of classic recordings.
Good listening.<ul><li><a href="http://www.classicrecords.com">Classic records</a></li></ul>
