Hello, I got a 2000 TT a few weeks ago and I have a couple of issues that I'm wondering if anyone else has seen.
Sometimes when I shift from first to second, it grinds. It has only happened about 5 times, but it has me a bit concerned.
My driver's side window does not go all the way up when I shut the door. I can hear a lot of wind when I drive. Plus when I shut the door, the window rattles a bit.
The interior lock button doesn't do anything. Could this be hooked straight to a fuse? I don't know where to look on this one.
That's all I can think of at the moment. If anyone has any ideas or has seen similar stuff on this, please let me know.
Thanks,
Jeff

He's got some first hand experience with a grind problem he had....I know he's not the only one that's seen this though.
As to the window problem...have you tried the procedure in the manual to "reset" it? I've never looked for it or tried, but others have mentioned it here....and it seems to work.
The interior lock button is a new one to me...but then again I haven't been around as long as some of the other folks here.
Might want to hit the search & also www.auditt.org for it's FAQ.
Good luck, and congrats!

1. As to grinding, dealer may have slight fix with new manual transmission oil they are now using with new TTs - car still under warranty? 180s are famous for this grinding. I have a 225 and only did it when cold. Take it easy shifting between 1 & 2, let it find the gear until it warms up
2. WIndow - put window all the way down several times - this is the usual cure
3. window noise - put some silicone spray on the rubber near the window - see of that works - if not see dealer if you're still u/ warranty
4. interior lock should work - see dealer

email Brad Willis with the grind issue and ask him to add you to his list. Most of us have all experienced this and he's keeping a record of it. May be the synchro...maybe the transmission...either way it all can be fixed. : )

my dealer just took my tranny out, and replaced first and second gears as well as the synchros. it's like a new car. i also have the same problem with my drivers window that will be adjusted by the dealer next week - this is not a big deal to fix. i hope that helps!
