Default Just had a wild thought...

So many of us current and prospective TT owners communicate on a routine basis. Yet, so few of us have actually met each other. So what do you think of a MAJOR get-together. I'm thinking a hub, somewhere in the middle of the country, where it's cheap to fly to.

Drive if you care to, but it's not necessary. We've mostly seen every type of TT under the sun (except for Mance's). This isn't about cars, it's about people. I haven't entirely thought this through, but it could be a lot of fun. What do you think? Any interest?

Default What hub? This could be interesting.

Default Had the same thought, logistics are tough, though...

What I'd like to do (partly so I'd get to meet more great people, partly because my schedule is strange) is orchestrate a UK meeting sometime this summer and then a US meeting sometime August-Sept?

My reasons are mostly selfish:

* I'll be living in London May thru August
* I'd like to meet UK people and US people
* The TT concentrations here seem to be US & UK

And... I have time to plan a big U.S. get-together if it happens this fall, but probably don't have the time to dedicate if the event happens before August.

I would suggest Chicago, Detroit, or Houston as hubs, as they're central and it's easy to fly. Chicago is particularly good as I-90 runs right into Chicago and perhaps we could get more people driving to the event (?)

So, basically, from August 15 forward as an event date I'd be happy to plan/help out/organize/etc.

Default Re: What hub? This could be interesting.

Could be Dallas, Denver (we could see Mance's car), Las Vegas, etc. Again, I am open to suggestions. Ideally, I'd look for a location with a temperate climate, cheap airfares, reasonably priced hotel rooms, etc.

Ideally, it would be somewhere that owners from almost any point in the USA could fly (or drive)to, without getting hammered on airfare. Vegas sounds interesting, but I would certainly be open to suggestions and, as we say in my business, indications of interest.

I may have some Vegas "connections", if there is interest and we decide to explore that route. I won't know for sure until I ask.

Default Yep...

... though tough for East-coasters to drive.

Then again, I don't know what the West-coaster to East-coaster ratio is here, probably 4:1.

I also have some connections to work in Vegas (some COMDEX related, some other-related), so that's a definite possibility if people accept that as being "central".

Default I'm not particularly fond of Vegas...maybe we should figure this out at the ChaTT Wedensday eve?

It's much more conducive to brain-storming, and we could do it on voice chat. The thing I absolutely hate about Vegas is the cloud of cigarette smoke the city lives under--plus this is not exactly "central" to everyone in the US. Also, we could gather some additional info from the various airlines as to their hub cities between now and then.

Default Re: Yep...

I'm 110% open to suggestions, including scrapping the whole idea due to lack of interest. Still, I understand that airfares from many parts of the country to Las Vegas are good. A lot of airlines fly there. And I would guess that some decent hotel would love to have a number of relatively affluent, rabid TT owners drop some of their hard-earned income in their casinos. Plus the drinks are FREE!

Again, I'm open to suggestions. We have plenty of time to think about this and discuss it.

Chicago's definitely a major hub (and I could drive my TT)...
