Default Just ordered Valentine 1 for 1000-mile trek to TT-East!

Assume some of you there can explain the advantages, etc., of hardwiring. Didn't order any kit for that yet, tho. Should I get one to take to Asheville? (not so subtle hint at to whether anyone there would want to help a non-teckie hardwire)

Default Yes - order the Hardwire kit !! Bring it to Asheville

easy install... You can do it yourself with a little help

Advantage is no wire hanging down from unit to lighter !!

You should also get the REMOTE display - easier to see DIRECTION of radar without looking up at unit..

Default Advantages...

By hardwiring the V1 becomes almost invisible. If you do actually get pulled over,(this can still happen w/ any detector) the cop is not going to see it unless he kneels down on the road. Try standing next to your car & see how far you have to bend down to see the rear view mirror. But if he sees the cord hanging down from the dash he is probably more inclined NOT to give a warning or such.. Plus it looks much beter. Also the cigarette lighter would tend to "eject" the power cord from lighter..became very frustrating. Anyway... Congrats on getting the best detector on the market!!

I will be doing all kinds of 'lectrical stuff at Asheville, can show you how, or do it for you.

Default Jeff, are you still planning on having the LED side-running lights in Asheville?

still interested if you are.

Default Thanks for the offer!!! Upon further study, it seems basic unit includes hardwire kit...

"Full Coverage against radar and laser.
Includes: windshield mount; visor mount; lighter adapter; power cord, coiled; power cord, straight; direct-wire power adapter; wiring-harness connector; owner's manual; interlocking fastener; spare suction cups; spare fuse. 30-day Money-Back Guarantee. "

So am I right to assume that the only other thing I would need is the remote unit, if I decide to get that?

Default Won't be at TT-East...

But I would love to see some pictures/diagram to see how it gets hardwired into the TT. I'm pretty good at electronics, but I'm not really someone that fiddles with their car much, so the idea of cutting into the headliner is a bit *scary* for me.

Default Yes - the detector includes lighter and hardwire cords, only accessory is remote display if you want

I wish Valentine sold a case to put the thing in when I have to pull it out of the car when I have to leave the car, but he doesn't, so the front and rear plastics are already lightly scuffed... :-(
