Default Just Wondering About Oil Change for a TT....(longish)

Quick Overview:
I had service done in February, which included an oil change. My next service is in July, they say they go by date not mileage in my case because I bought a used 2000 this February that was originally purchased in 1999 and now it has 5000 miles on it (only had 1,187 miles when I bought it). So, in February, they did a 10K mile service even though it only had 1,187 miles, again because it was originally purchased in 1999 and they can't go by mileage and must go by date. I can't get a 5K service because a 10K service has already been done. If my next service is in July, then I would have about 12K miles, judging by the rate I'm driving my car. Shouldn't the oil be changed every 3K miles? Does this mean I should get the oil changed on my own or should I wait until July? If I do it on my own, I will have to pay for it, I guess.

Sorry for the "duh" question, but I really am not sure.

If I were you - I'd pay to get the oil changed at least every 5K miles (I'm doing every 3)

Default No need: the service interval is 10K after the initial 5K......

However, I strongly recommend a good synthetic like Redline or Mobil1

http://www.redlineoil.com</a

Actually, it's 5K, 10K and every 10K thereafter...

Absolutely right. Sorry. It's 5K, 10K, then every 10K.

Default Er...my maintenance booklet says every 5k....

That is, an oil change every 5 k, with an additional "service" every 10k.

Is that what you mean?
