Default k next electrical question how much space above ashtray

plan on tapping into the lighter for a power source, and will have some wires and plugs to hide. Should I expect to find any space to conceal stuff or will I need to lead the wires to a spot where I can hide everything I'll be plugging into it?

Default i used the section in the back where the side panels meet>>>

you just need to keep the wiring up a bit, so the door in the center console will slide back fully...

Default yea I figure that's where I'd leave most the wiring

since it's easy to access...finally got it all plugged in and working last night...plugging the satelite into the antenna plug in the back of the radio etc, going to try to install it tonight..

Default ya know>>>

not sure which head unit ya got. But i bought the roady 2..xm.. and with some small right angle adapters, it fits nicely into the front of tray, to the point where i can close the door! NICE..hidden...
I can see the screen and am working on a mounting point so it will fit nicely at an angle....

Just a thought

Default I have a sirius unit and while I was going to originally

put it there I wound up getting the knee brace adaptor. It will hold the unit, looks like it will be a very clean easy to access install..

space wise, gives you an idea...i am still working on the mounting point...but its fully functional right now....not beautiful, but i like the fact i can hide it!

approximate "final" positon...

hidden.....a little dark...and yes, the door fully closes....

lying flat....

will be done soon! but not before TTeast...
I chose the roady 2, so i can move it easily between my wife's A6 and the TT....best of both worlds!

Default thanks...

I tried that at first too. I wanted a permanent solution, but didn't want to cut the box for the wires on the side. so I abandoned that spot. I have mine mounted now where the ash tray was, but that won't work for you with the gauge pod. As far as swapping vehicles, how do you switch the antenna? or do you have a second one? I'd like to be able to pop mine into the wifes car for trips. I have the roady 1, but I have and fm modulator from my old car that would work for it. but I have the antenna wire all hidden and tucked away, so pulling it out isn't really an option.

Default yep...>>>>

second attennae...cost me 30$ online. Ran it in the wife's car, and it sits near the front passenger seat.

I created a hardwire harness for the Roady 2 for the TT and mounted it in the dash. The cigarette lighter version is used in the wifes car...
Pretty straight forward, just not beautiful and truthfully i like the fact that the people will not know its there. The TT attracts enough attention as it is....no sense in provoking theft! :-)
