I love my car. Really I do. I've been toying with selling it because I'm getting up there in miles. 76K to be exact. I'd like to get another with less miles. Of course, my fear is getting a slightly used one with a buttload of problems lurking under the hood.
Mike at Ingolstadt West says this is about the time that michanics start looking at buying them and tricking them out. There's absolutely nothing wrong with the car. She runs like a top. I've never had any debilitating problems with the car, ever. And I've got an extended warranty good until 100K. So, as of right now, I'm in a good place with the car. I could probably unload it in a reasonable amount of time.
So, the question I have is....
How many of you have high mileage TT's and are you happy with your decision to keep it for the long haul??? I need some input please!!!

if it is well maintained. I think there is a stigma these days, that once a car gets near 100k miles, that its at the end of its life...which is completely untrue. If you take care of it, your car could easily reach 200k miles...and more!
If the car is trouble free, why tempt fate??? KEEP IT! I am at 85K, and have no intentions of getting rid of it anytime soon....IMO.

my 1st ride had over 350,000 miles (not on the same engine of course)
2nd ride my loved 87 MR2 had over 140,000 when I lost her to my stupidity. It was running like a kitten when she left me.
3rd ride was integra 94 GSR. had over 70,000 when I sold the integra (got a company car).
TT is my new ride and plan on keeping it a "long" time.

with over 100k, still bringing $$$. If you are considering resale value, than you should buy a used car everytime. You take your biggest hit the first yr.....
Look at the edmunds charting on a car with 85k and 125k miles..we are talking 1500$ or so...that's it! which equates to less than 10% of the residual value.
I have had more than a few cars for more than 200K, and most cannot believe the mileage when they see the car.
I would maintain also, that a modded car will sell for less as well. Some people will not touch a car that has been modified, especially if its HP related..(read racing the car, or some would say beating on it)....
Just my quarters worth!

good enough I'm sure. That's LA for ya. All about appearances. Glad I bought the car when I lived in the Bay Area.
The other factor with modded cars is insurance costs. One of the dreaded questions they ask when you get a quote is, "is it modified?" So, for most, the prospect of paying more on a modded car is not that appealing. Especially on a car with 80K miles on it.
Aside from the DV my car is not modded at all, except for exterior enhancements.
And you're right, it's a much better idea to buy used. I bought the car two years ago with 29K miles on her. I guess you can say I've been driving the hell out of it. But the price was right, even though it was sitting on a Volvo dealer lot. Talk about good luck.
But, I like the feedback so far. Gives me pause to wonder if I should keep it.
