Default Kmac Adjustable Camber bushings.....Install (part 1)....>>>

Well, decided to tackle at least part of the install today after work. Pretty painless all in all, but a couple of tricks to look out for....Here's the blow by blow...

1) Put the car up on stands and remove the wheels

2) I started with removing the upper arm. First tricky issue is the Haldex subframe bolt which interferes with the removal of the upper arm inner bolt. Remove to get clearance and proceed to remove inner and outer bolts, lift out arm.

3) Using the supplied bushing remover, extract the OEM bush from the arm.

4) Insert poly bushings, then grease eccentric barrel and insert.

5) Re-install on car. I set the upper kmac to a neutral setting and the lower to full "in". Will do measurements tomorrow to see how much this correction (1/2 of range) is. Don't forget to re-install the Subframe bolt!

6) Remove lower arm and repeat the bush drill

7) re-install and torgue everything down. Kmac specifies 53 lbs

I'll finish up tomorrow and do the camber measurements and final adjustments. More pics will be added to my Fotki page. Check out the pics to date there. My overall impression is that this is a perfect solution. Nicely made, easy install and most important, it solves the problem of Camber correction...
Feel free to ask questions....Installment #2 tomorrow!

Default Looks like a project! Do you need to replace the subframe bolt

with a new one? I remember evan talking about subframe bolts in the other end of the car that need replacing after removal because of purposeful stretching.

I look forward to tomorrow's post (& pictures).

Default Don't think so....>>>

The two you need to drop go through large rubber bushes and likely are not the stretch variety. Re-torqued to 90 lbs. Anybody got a torque spec on this?

Default Kit cost is....>>

$276, which seems like a lot of $$ for what you get, BUT...It is the cheapest solution (other than a hack slot job), it's well engineered, quality is excellent, and fit is perfect. Ya wanna play, ya gotta pay.....

Default I've been saying this looks to be the best solution since I saw the product - glad to hear your

positive thoughts on it. I'm still waiting to hear about the recall on the rear control arms - as 12/99 build i'd fall within the range. As soon as I find out what's up - it's PSS9's or KW Variant II's and the Kmac kit.

Default Cool thing about hte Kmac is the fact they use Poly for the bushings

Should remove any play that the rubber bushings might have thrown into the mix, plus the fact that Poly is inpervious to oil salt and chemicals, unlike rubber which will deteriorate, under similar circumstances...Just be sure to grease those puppies well, I used to use Anti sieze compound on all of my Poly parts on my old Jeep, nary a squeek or groan was ever heard.
