Default Kudos to Stratmosphere/?Forge failure/Audi arrogance.....

My malfunction indicator lamp came on, so I brought my 180Q 2000 (first one Boston area) into Park Audi for a look. The Vag tool comes up with error code p1128. Service guy checks all hoses and clamps and says problem is failed after market Forge DV. He resets light, test drives and says things seem to be OK now.

So now they tell me I have to pay for the diagnostics (since warranty on DV is now void).

Malfunction lamps lights up again on my drive home ( 25 miles back to NH).

I'd like to express my gratitude to Pete @ Stramosphere, who is sending me a new replacement unit (no charge) express mail, not even knowing for sure that the unit really has failed.
Pete's attitude and conduct provided a stark contrast to the arrogance I continually encounter at Audi. If they could provide a well working DV I would have slightly more patience for them.

Now what do I do if new valve doesn't fix problem and MI lamp continues to indicate fault? Audi has already excused themselves from problem.

Any help from the techies out there appreciated.

Default Re: Any performance symptoms?

Nothing obvious. Now that I "know" the DV is an issue I thought it felt a little surgey this morning.

Default Same happened here. Turned out a "malfunctioning solenoid was causing an overboost situation ...

that caused the (Forge) DV to fail." They had given me a lecture about aftermarket parts, then were apologetic when it turned out something else was the problem. I had brought the original OEM dv with me to prove that part had failed to begin with, so they didn't charge me for the new OEM "N" valve. I just got charged for the labor of swapping the DVs. Forge offered to replace their dv, but since the problem wasn't with their product, I didn't feel right about taking their offer.

Sorry to hear your dealer isn't like the one I go to. (Legend, on L.I.)

Default Clear codes, put stock DV back in and see if ithappens again...

if so go back to the dealer, get your money back and tell them to fix it!

Default Audi's "N" valve working well for 18,000+ miles here. Get one. ;-)

How can you complain about Audi valves when your Forge valve left you hanging?

Default Who siad his Forge left him hanging? The 'N' the dealer put it failed in 25 miles!

The 'N' fails on a regular basis for many people. How do you know yours has not failed?

Just because the dealer said the Forge DV failed does not make it so. I have not had a proper diagnosis with my car in 2.5 YEARS! They still can't figure out why my FSU's keep failing every couple of months.

Default Qustion for Larry TT

Nice sig!

So what if the new forge doesn't correct issue? Am I correct in my understanding that the malfunction light should go out after 3 non faulty starts, i.e., a new valve if valve was the fault to begin with?

What else could it be.

Default APRs stage III is using a stock DV, if your Forge is bad it is about the 12th I've seen fail. Not

.to be disagreeable but I don't see anything wrong with what the dealer did unless of course the DV turns out not to be thr problem. JIM
