Kudos to Stratmosphere/?Forge failure/Audi arrogance.....

My malfunction indicator lamp came on, so I brought my 180Q 2000 (first one Boston area) into Park Audi for a look. The Vag tool comes up with error code p1128. Service guy checks all hoses and clamps and says problem is failed after market Forge DV. He resets light, test drives and says things seem to be OK now.
So now they tell me I have to pay for the diagnostics (since warranty on DV is now void).
Malfunction lamps lights up again on my drive home ( 25 miles back to NH).
I'd like to express my gratitude to Pete @ Stramosphere, who is sending me a new replacement unit (no charge) express mail, not even knowing for sure that the unit really has failed.
Pete's attitude and conduct provided a stark contrast to the arrogance I continually encounter at Audi. If they could provide a well working DV I would have slightly more patience for them.
Now what do I do if new valve doesn't fix problem and MI lamp continues to indicate fault? Audi has already excused themselves from problem.
Any help from the techies out there appreciated.

that caused the (Forge) DV to fail." They had given me a lecture about aftermarket parts, then were apologetic when it turned out something else was the problem. I had brought the original OEM dv with me to prove that part had failed to begin with, so they didn't charge me for the new OEM "N" valve. I just got charged for the labor of swapping the DVs. Forge offered to replace their dv, but since the problem wasn't with their product, I didn't feel right about taking their offer.
Sorry to hear your dealer isn't like the one I go to. (Legend, on L.I.)

pulling the DV putting in stock, reseting ECu and see what happens. But since the dealer has charged you for the wk already I would go back and give'm sh*t.
Can't say what your problem is though sorry :-(

The 'N' fails on a regular basis for many people. How do you know yours has not failed?
Just because the dealer said the Forge DV failed does not make it so. I have not had a proper diagnosis with my car in 2.5 YEARS! They still can't figure out why my FSU's keep failing every couple of months.

Nice sig!
So what if the new forge doesn't correct issue? Am I correct in my understanding that the malfunction light should go out after 3 non faulty starts, i.e., a new valve if valve was the fault to begin with?
What else could it be.

.to be disagreeable but I don't see anything wrong with what the dealer did unless of course the DV turns out not to be thr problem. JIM
