Default Kumho Ecsta MX vs Falken Azenis RT615 Thoughts?

Yes, another tire thread. I have looked at all of the threads on Audi World regarding these two tires and have gotten conflicting reports both ways.

I want a tire that will kick butt at the track, but that won't cause me to hydroplane and crash in the wet. I live in Southern Californa so it doesn't rain much, but winter is coming and when it does rain, the roads are oily and slippery.

I can only afford one set of 4 tires on the car, not two on a different set of rims.

Does anybody have any first hand experience with these tires on a TT? Both on the track and in daily driving?

Thanks!

Aaron

Default The MX didn't suck at the track. Make sure you keep the tire pressures down. It's easy to

overinflate and chew up the middle of the tire. I used them in the wet with good results, but not as a daily driver.

Have you considered the Goodyear F1 GS-D3? I don't think they cost much more and rate better.

Search www.caranddriver.com for a direct comparison between the MX and the Goodyear.

Default I had the Falken Azenis Sports on my TT, and they were amazing.

And the RT615s are supposed to be better in every way, I believe.

I'm a believer...

Also, the fact that they were called 'Falken Azenis Cheaters' at the auto-x by the people who weren't using them... well, that should tell you something. ;-)

Default SO far the 615 has both kicked butt at the track and done well as my daily driver tire,

even in the rain. The tire didn't overheat and get greasy at the track. I was pretty happy about that. And the wet traction is good, not quite what my Potenza S-03's were, but still very good.

Highly regarded for autocross. Not so hot on the track. Get greasy. Dunno about the 615.

Ah, yes! I seem to recall hearing that, but I'd forgotten.
