Default KW Coilovers owners, how low can you lower the rear of your car?

The mechanic has finally repositioned my Forge rear adjustable tie bars from upper to lower control arms, but for some strange reason, the car seem to be sitting just a tad higher than before when the adjustable tie bars were in the incorrect position. As far as I know, the rear is at the lowest setting already. Others have reported one can lower the rear a bit more by flipping the rear spring perches. Is there any adverse effect to this?

Default mine are flipped

i was able to get it pretty much even with the front. before they were flipped it looked awful. the front looked too low and the rear looked jacked up. haven't had any problems.

here is a pic that i borrowed from a fellow AWer:

Default flipped perches here. No adverse effects.

Default So I take it that you lose the adjustability when you flip the perches?

Not to be rude, but isn't that half the point of coilovers?

Default I had no problem going 1.25 inches lower in the rear with my V2's

In fact I wasn't all the way down. Check your email.

Default correct, but adjustibility for corner balancing to be precise.

only problem with the KWs, is that the rears cannot be adjusted any lower than 2 fingers between the tire and the wheel well...flipping the perches allow you to get close to one finger gap.

i have not tried this, but, i will experiment with moving the rear coils so that the end of the bottom coil does not point towards the rear of the car...i believe that this also keeps the rear from going any lower...by moving and repositioning the coil so that it points towards the front of the car where the arm pivots are...will allow the rear to drop slightly lower...IMHO.

Default hey, that's my pic!

haha. no problem. i realized this after meem had his perches machined off. i didn't want to do that for fear that i may eventually either raise the car or get rid of it later....and didn't want to alter anything.

Default Most people going that low aren't doing it for handling anyway. Think of it as a 2 in 1 deal...

One configuration for performance, one for looks.

Default Re: KW Coilovers owners, how low can you lower the rear of your car?

Anybody ever contact KW in Germany and ask them about this?
When I installed my V3 kit I adjusted the rear to where I figured it would be about an inch lower than stock based on their claims of height adjustibility. It was higher than stock!
I've seen a lot of posts from US & UK TT owners with KW V3 kits about this problem. Based on what Joe@vwvortex says above I wonder if they shipped out a bunch of V3 kits with the 'wrong' rear springs. The 'right' spring wouldn't be any different between a V3 & V2.

Default i've contacted KW about this and have received no explanation whatsoever or did not

even get a response back. i think they need to ramp up on their customer service a bit. north american KW won't know as much as the germany counterpart, since they are generally a distributor of KW products...no manufacturing here...but you would think that they should still respond back to their customers, right?
