Default Like anyone wants to hear it re Zaino...

...but I like hearing my keyboard click so here goes: "Jeff's Zainoing of an S4 (or Where did six hours of my life go?)"

Took the S4 to my brother's so I could take advantage of his garage (and drool on his new M5).

Arrival at 12:15pm
Began Dawn wash at 12:20
Pull car into garage at 2.
Begin claying car
Take break from claying at 2:30 to ride in M5. Did I mention it has an Alcantara headliner? =P~
Back at 3:00
Finished claying at 3:30 (with trip inside to mix more lube spray)
Finished 2nd wash at 4
Finished Z1 coat at 4:30
Finished Z5 coat at 5:00
Began Z5 removal at 5:30
Finished Z5 removal at 6:00

Observations:
(1) I need to do a better bug removal job with the clay. Missed a few on the front of the car.
(2) Even just the one Z5 coat was mirror glossy and got rid of *every* spiderweb and swirl.
(3) Shoulda taken the time to do the gloss enhancer then, but even doing it last night...wow. Used much less than the Meguiars #34, and the finish is smooth and glossy. If Z2 is supposed to be glossier than Z5, I'll be able to shave (as much as I ever shave) in the finish.
(4) Agree with TP below. Need to have some more light so you can see the hazing of the Z1 etc. By the end I had to turn on the garage lights.
(5) The Z5 really needs to come in a translucent bottle like the other products, so I can know how far down I am getting in the bottle.
(6) Need either a bigger set of spray bottles for clay lube, or more spray bottles of the current size.

The worst thing is: that was the S4. I still need to do the A4 this weekend. *sigh*

-Jeff

Default Thanks Jeff... I ordered my Zaino this week and I'll lose my six hours next week. ;)

I have printed out all the Zaino FAQs and some other threads on how to properly Zaino... I'll use yours as a supplementary guide as well since the entire process seems rather "complex".

Now... I hope this $100+ plus of Zaino I'll get actually does something wonderful!

Thanks for the additional tips!<p>-= Peter =-

Default Anytime. My only other tip...

...would be make sure you have a little rolling seat for waxing the lower panels. I have a nylon camp chair for cleaning my wheels, but I have to pick that up and put it back down...it doesn't slide easily. My brother had a little padded cart-thing from Griot's Garage (www.griotsgarage.com , amazingly enough) that I used to work my way down the side of the car.

Why did I not have this thing before?!??!

-Jeff

ps - I'm sure it will turn out wonderfully shiny to reward you for the hard work.

Default Well, a bit more involved than a dolley...

...I can give a specific link at griots if people are interested. Basically it sits around 33" off the floor, and has a cushiony seat, and a couple of trays that sit beneath the seat. It puts you at about the right height so you don't have to either reach up (a flat creeper) or down (like a computer chair).
