I am not familiar with that term, Extrue Honed.

Could you elaborate...

Default Hans once posted that EH improved low end and gave better throttle response. But has

anyone actually measured before and after dyno, accceleration times or other VAG-COM data?
Many here have done this mod but I do not recall ever seeing any hard numbers.

Default Extrude Honed is probably your best bet

There are other options but they are fairly expensive and the gains will be minimal. There is only so much flow from our small port heads. Do a search for a link to a recent intake manifold test, there were several other small port manifold thats did better than stock. If you're set on going aftermarket I would recommend the 007 small port mani, looked like it flowed the best and the guys who make them really know their stuff.
Or you could get an AEB head, a large port manifold, do a bunch of other work including bypassing some emmissions stuff and get some serious flow. But unless you are running a big turbo there's really no reason to.

Default Leaning that way

First priority is a clutch. Then if I want to add any more horsepower I need to upgrade the rods. And if I pull the head to put new rods in I doubt the stock one is going back on. Wouldn't mind seeing what a big port head with some aftermarket cams could do with a big turbo and revving to about 8k. But we'll see, it's all still just an idea in my head for now.
