I just spoke to a salesman here at Beverly Hills Porsche/Audi and was told that all the cars they are getting are priced around $36,000 and that that is the MSRP. They might mark them up another $2000 - $3000. Has anyone else heard this from their dealership?!?!? Thanks!
First of, I assume that you are referring to the 180 FWD version. The MSRP of this car is $30,500. The problem, if you call it that, is that the early TTs will be pretty much fully optioned. So, it's a matter of taking one that's on the way, or ordering it the way you like it and waiting a long time.
A 180 FWD TT with all option packages except for the cell phone stickers at $33,400. Add on another $450 or so for delivery charges. Ask them if they are marking up the car. The answer is probably yes. I've been advising readers of this forum to lock in their deals asap as supply would soon dry up (only 4000 TTs this year for the U.S.A.), and markups would be common. Those predictions are now coming true, and it's going to get much worse before it gets better.
Talk to the dealer and ask if they can do the car at MSRP. Also, find out where you stand on the wait list. If you can do a deal at MSRP, and you are early on the list, I would do it. Otherwise, check around as you might be able to get a better deal AND get your TT much sooner. Do not expect to get this car for under MSRP, as it's not going to happen. If you do reach an agreement and place an order GET ALL DETAILS IN WRITING.

I have heard that dealers have been warned by Audi USA that if it can be proven that any dealer has sold TTs for over MSRP, allocation will be cut to the offending dealer at a rate of 2 cars lost for each sold over MSRP.
The way I see it you have two choices:
1) Raise this point to your dealer and see if they will go along with the program.
2) Go somewhere else.
Either route you go, still complain to Audi. If you choose option 1, wait until after you receive your car. You sure don't want to have "your" car cut from the allocation.
Personally, I would go somewhere else. In my opinion "once a crook, always a crook." If this dealer agrees and you stay with this them, they'll probably screw you later any way.
Just my 2 cents, spend it as you like.

You have a right to be mad as hell. A fully loaded TT 1.8T front track is $33,925. If you are charged anything more than that don't deal with those people. I am a certified Audi Brand Specialist and I am sick and tired of people like that giving us a bad name. We will not add one penny over sticker to the price of our cars other the normal sales tax and licensing fees.

I agree, guys. Do not pay over MSRP for this car. Luckily, the pipeline at most dealerships has not been pre-sold for the entire year as of this point, like the Boxster was when it came out, so look around, find a reputable dealer, and lock yourself in. I have had no problem with my dealer in requesting an order date when the quattro option hits the books, even though I'm willing to wait until October/November for delivery.
