Default MAF Question: Could a bad/failing MAF give an "intermittent" lean condition code???

That's what's going on with my TT for the moment. K at Ingolstadt told me about the error code which was somewhat unusual to him if it was a bad MAF. According to K, if it is a bad MAF, then it will usually cause it to run lean or rich in a more consistent manner ... not intermittent.

In any event, the car correcting itself at 18+ rather than the normal 0 to 10. No codes being thrown and it seems to be running fine ... for the moment.

I told him what I read here about dirty MAF and cleaning ... also about the compatibility with the VW MAF. He's going to try and see how that works out.

Anybody else have an "intermittent" lean error code?

Default The car will usually go in and out of limp..>>

Intermittently when the partial throttle adaptation gets up over +20. That is usually the sign of a MAF reading too low....

Default Hey schwing...

I ran block 32 again this weekend and it read like 22...how do I fix that? What does it mean...I am thinkin of getting a nice tune for all my mods via lemmiwinks or APR V-tune...what do you think?

Default You're running too lean....and about to go limp again...>>

If it's ratcheting up that quickly it is usually
the MAF, but in your case it might be toasted 02 sensors. run block 217 (lambda). Do a wot run on that one.

You need to fix the problem, not put a bandaid on it. No lemmiwinks til you figure out what's wrong..:-)

They have other ways of testing the 02 sensors...don't worry.

Yes. I just swapped my MAF after continually throwing that code. No CEL so far.

Default Ok ... that's good to know as we seek out and destroy the gremlins

Are you sure you don't want to change your callsign to "The Oracle"?

As always, thanks again.
