Default MAF sensor replacement with a VW part

I can replace my MAF sensor with a VW MAF, right? I am on the phone with a VW dealer right now, and he needs to know which engine it's for. What do I tell him?

Default about 2 years ago, yes. $75 here. 06A-906-461-A

You will need to remove the actual sensor from the housing, but it works.

Default I called 2 more dealers

One said $64, another said $58.74. Volkswagen just put the part on "red order" the guy told me, which means they won't give them out to just anybody--they need the VIN and then they order it. The guy at the third dealer said he has six in stock, but they are already reserved for other cars. He did say though that if I come in there with my VIN he will give me one and reorder another with my VIN.

I guess they have a huge shortage of this part...?

I suspect that's true, since the letter went out regarding the extra-length warranty on it.

Default They told me the same thing... $300+

They also said they needed the VIN to figure out which MAF I needed. Apparently there are multiple revisions out there and the cheap one wont work with my car.

I'm gonna get them to replace under warranty now that they extended the MAF warranty to like 70K in California. The damned thing failed at like 51K.

Default Rich, call West Suburban VW in Maywood.....>

They do service on 3 of my VW's and will get my TT when it comes off warranty. They are very honest, and helpful.

Recently, my kid's Cabrio needed a MAF. They told me that it would be $400, but the service guy told me to just by one online and save the money.

He also said they sold the Jetta MAF for $50-$60.

Tell them you are a clubb5 member and a member of the Chicago VW Club. I am a member of each, and I tell them that, and they always give me a discount on parts.

Let me know what you find out.
