Default The gear ratios seem to help this a bit as well

With the 6 speed I find that between any two gears(say between 3 and 4) it's about 1000-1500 rpm difference for a given speed. So if you're doing 40mph in 4th at 2500rpm that would be about 3500rpm in 3rd. So, if downshifting one gear blip the throttle up about 1000rpm. 3rd to 2nd is different, seems to be about a 2000rpm difference there. I am not a gearhead but I'm sure if you looked at the ratios you could figure out the exact amount of revs needed to match.
But, like you said, in the end you just do it by feel, and when you get it just right it's one of those "I rule!" moments
