Default Measuring the effectiveness of an APR chip

I find it unbelievable that there is no definitive information regarding improvements in 0 - 60 and 1/4 mile times when using an APR chip. Whether or not you are going to track your car is immaterial. If I'm adding a chip, the first thing I would like to know is how it improved my acceleration. Wouldn't it be a good idea to do a before and after chip, 0 - 60 and 1/4 mile run to determine how effective the chip is?

I called APR last week and they supplied me with a lot of information regarding HP improvement but they had nothing even in the way of anecdotal information regarding 0 - 60 or 1/4 time improvement. Sure it will vary car to car but it would still be useful information to have to help determine if the mod is worthwhile, at least from my perspective.

I have trying to do this all day, I talked with REVO, APR, and GIAC, and I still do not know what king of times I will see.

Default Truthfully.. it's mostly the driver...

Some people have put down (well one with timeslips) a 13.8 or something crazy in a STOCK TT.. whereas some can't break 14.5 in a chipped or more heavily modified one.

GIAC will shave off about a second. APR.. I honestly don't know.

Default You seem to have a drag strip mentality...>>

That's not what these cars are about. You got the horsepower changes, you can get the weight of your car. Seems to me 0-60 and 1/4 mile theoretical times are easily calculated. That's really the only way to look at it anyway. Everyones reaction times, conditions, altitudes, etc. will be different and not directly comparable. That's why they can't (or won't) give it to you.

Default Here's a calculator.......>

Just plug in the numbers until the HP equals the numbers for the chips you have. Figure a TT coupe, with a half tank at about 3350 lbs....add driver weight....

Looks like it takes 10hp for every .2 sec improvement..

http://www.ondoperformance.com/calculators.html</a
