Default Milltek straight pipe installed... zooooom!

My first impressions will echo MTT, Dave, Cliff and others who have installed or heard the non-resonated Milltek exhaust. Somewhat louder, but most noticeable is the deep, low exhaust note. At speed on the freeway, I can't hear it over the noise of the stock tires... and driving mildly, the exhaust note is muted. Under full throttle, there is quite a pleasant sound... nothing that sounds bumblebee or ricey to me, though I guess I'll have to hear it from outside the car with someone driving away from me. Only downside, if you can call it that, is resonance around 3200 rpm while coasting with foot completely off throttle (like in a downhill coast or something.)

I don't notice any performance jump from res to non-res, but I can't emphasize enough how big a difference this exhaust makes from stock. Smoothness of power, and a better pull to 6K rpms are quite noticeable. I went from OEM to resonated, drove it that way for a week, and now switched to the non-res, so I have a really good back-to-back comparo. I'm gonna keep my resonated pipe around until I get the cats and downpipein place, just in case things get too loud and I want to switch back.

In summary: if you want better performance and a little more sound from your exhaust without being too noticeable, go with resonated. If you want the above, but with a deeper, sportier exhaust note (and a little less stealth), go non-res.

Out of curiosity, has anyone dynoed before and after with that installation? And if so, what did the dyno say?

Hey skydive, you know that guys would rather deal with the good 'ol seat of the pants dyno than the real world - it is so much more forgiving.
