Default misbehaving power top

Recently I've noticed some reluctance from my car's power top to fully return to the can-be-latched state - yeah, I believe this car does have a mind of it's own!

Today, as I was closing the top, it "bounced" back right before the top motion usually stops, like it was going to reopen by itself. It would not fully return to latchable state. So I started to open it again, a small bit, then reclosed. It made a unhappy 'clicking' sound like something was jammed. Then closed up fine. Hmm.

Need more investigation to see if something is down there, nothing evident on brief look.

Anyone have this experience? Comments?

cheers

Default Could you have gotten your TTrunk Monkey caught in the mechanism?

Sorry Julie, nothing constructive to offer just adding some humor

Default Well to be honest, I wouldn't expect useful info from you! (wink)

You have a coupe!

Actually, I'm more worried it's delayed fallback to the N-hundred times the rear of my car was opened, by semi-stupid techs, to repair tank sensors... I see you're having an issue again. The rapid jump to full was one of my failed sensor symptoms, but didn't you have these swapped already?

Default If he got his monkey stuck in it....

Then he has bigger problems than the top not going up.

Default Re: misbehaving power top

Ours began to slow down last fall. Obviously, through the winter, we didn't operate the top, but this spring, it continued to slow down and eventually it quit.

They had to order new struts. They claimed there were none in North America and we had to wait quite a while to get new ones in. Some idiot put them on a boat instead of air, so they say.

Anyway, they had to replace the struts and the bonehead technicians took forever to diagnose it. First they said it was some electrical switch and then they figured out the strut thing.

They claim they had Audi wasn't aware of the problem and that it took a month or so to get everything straightened away because no one could find the problem and get the right parts.

Knowing my dealership (only one in 3 hour radius), they were covering for their incompetance.

If you need more specific information once your dealer has a look, let me know and I can phone my dorks and get more details for you.
