Default Miserable experience w/ Armourfend (& High Price)!

Hi,
Had an S4 done last week (Nogaro Blue) at the Greenwich Armourfend facility, but they really screwed it up. The piece on the hood is full of bubbles, and the lower front bumper piece has bubbles/silvering in about 10 different areas!!! The door handles and mirrors are already peeling, and overall the car looks 5 times worse than it did before. It looks unbelievably bad, and I am in disbelief that they let the car drive out with it. Also, they charged me $600 for the full kit, plus $200 for installation. What did you guys pay? Also, do you know who actually did the install? I don't think the guys they have there now are doing it correctly, but I will know for sure on Tuesday, as I am having them fix the bad pieces (or at least attempt it). Joe Kane has been pretty good about it so far, telling me I just had bad luck and that because it was so hot on the day they did it the chemicals they were using were the wrong ones. Either way, it is completely unacceptable, and they never should have let me drive away with it. I only did because they said it would go away, but it actually looks worse now! Anyone else have problems with Armourfend? Doesn't that price seem a little ridiculous also? I will keep you posted to see what happens on Tuesday...

If any of you have specific experiences feel free to email me as well. Thanks!

Default Thanks for the heads up (more)

Will be interested in hearing the resolution of this matter. I work in Greenwich and was thinking about having them do my TT....not now, or not until I hear that you are happy. I think Rik, from our Forum, used them last year and had a great experience.... Nice to know they may not be providing as excellent a job these days. Please keep us posted, or at least me. Thanks.

Default I used Invinca-Shield (3M Scotchcal). Delux kit and all options cost

$350. Kit came with all parts, tools and a VHS tape on how to apply. Did it myself with no problems although the front valance is a little trickey.

I would be real concerned with what you are facing here. First, you have plenty of time to work with this product, but once on...its on. Removing and re-installing a new piece is the only option to get it correct after the part has set. Otherwise, the part gets all streched out, loses adhesive and gets covered with fingerprints in the process of pulling it off. Second, you mentioned bubbles. I'd be concerned they don't take a air release tool to your car in the form of a pin or needle and ***** your paint in the process.

The only acceptaple solution for me would be to have them pull it all off and reinstall a new kit correctly. Either that or refund your money which sounds like the best solution (givin' the poor, uncaring job they did the first time). And, find someone who knows what they are doing. Geez, its really not that hard of a job.

Good luck
00' 180QC, Dead Stock (except EPROM, exhaust & clear film paint protector)
