Default Misreading cluster?

I got a 2002 Audi TT.

The cluster needed replacing. The guy I bought the car off of gave me the cluster for the car.
When the Audi dealership replaced the cluster, the fuel gauge was reading in reverse. When it is full it shows empty. When empty it shows full. Audi said they can look at it but it would cost me about $200 if they found out the cluster is faulty.

Everything else works fine.

Anyone have any experiences with this?
Is it the cluster?
Did they install a wire wrong?
Something else?

Anything really would help. I'm new to Audi. Love it so far.

clusters, my 01 TT225Q dead, as well as guages were problematic in early cars, $200 isnt too bad if thats all they charge, you can check modulemasters.com for info repairs. thats where mine will go eventually

Hey,
Thanks.
When I bought the Audi, I knew the cluster needed replacing. When I took it to the dealership, they weren't too happy that I didn't buy the cluster from them. They then said that sometimes they can be faulty.

It's the only Audi dealer around and everyone ive spoken to has issues with them.

I strongly suspect that they will simply sau it is the cluster that is faulty.

That is why im hesitant to take it in.

You can buy/ borrow a VAG.com and test the cluster.

You just need a windows pc with a USB port and the vag.com from rosstech. You can test the entire cluster.Plugs into the OBDII port by your left foot.
