Default Mobil 1 (M1-204) Oil Filter Warning - All Audi applications for this filter have been revoked per

manf. due to inadequate thread reach issues. The nipple (threaded thing that filter screws onto) is too short (actually the threads on the filter's baseplate are too recessed) and there may not be enough contact to properly hold the filter to your car. If it falls off or leaks, you could suddenly loose oil pressure and/or most of your oil. In case you were wondering; this isn't good at all for your engine!

Default I think NAPA gold is repackaged Wix Filter, which are actually pretty good. M1 isn't bad, but I

posted this as I am stuck with a few of these. The only thing I don't like about the M1 filter is the canister is smaller, and thus gives you slightly less total oil capacity in the crankcase. I'm of the opinion that the bigger the pan/sump capacity the better! Can't go wrong with the Mann (Audi) OEM filter.

Amazingly, JC Whitney doesn't show it on their webpage.

I think we should be using M1-205.

Default The K&N and Mobil filters are made by the same company...

so you should be aware of that too. Only difference is the outer casing with the "nut" on the bottom, from something I read earlier. May be the same problem, thread-wise.

Default Not for any VAG V6 engine per the Mobil 1 hotline. Please check first before using. I only asked

them about the 2.7t and 2.8 30V engines, not the VR-6 or any 4 cylinders. Not saying they won't fit, but I would advise you to check first. Hotline phone #: 800-882-0890. Made by Champion Labs.
