Default more importantly, you now have to get involved with the dc/md/nova tt group!...

this mafia-like organization is "headed" by michaelTT and 225TTr (although she may be excommunicated soon -- since we won't be able to catch up to her in her new wheels). we've got a day trip planned to harpers ferry in mid-september -- should be a good opportunity to meet other tt folks in the area, see some history, get a good meal, and have a nice drive in your tt.

Default I held out to modding for almost two years -- but follow this forum...

and there is no doubt in my mind you'll do something to your car.

You can switch, but why would you? Synthetics are demonstrably better; Redline Oil for me.

Default "Real reason" doesn't so much concern synth to dino, but rather the reverse at high mileage...

Basically, synthetic oil flows better and is more "slippery" than dino oil is, so if you switch an older vehicle from dino to synth you may very well experience problems with seepage from seals where you've never had a problem before. Further, switching back to dino oil if you have a problem will fix the problem.

For a new car, especially a turbo, an extra $25/oil change seems cheap insurance unless you're
leasing and will just dump the car after two or three years...

It was the reverse (dino to synth), see below...

Actually I would question whether this applies in newer, high mileage engines. Tighter tolerances...
