Default MOD SHACK MOD: MAF screen expose......10%+.....(UPDATED)

<center><img src="http://images.fotki.com/v6/photos/7/7305/90707/modshacklogoaltvicopy-vi.jpg?1027975401"></center><p>
Yesterday I pulled the vane straightener and screen out of the MAF to see the affect on air flow through the system and potential boost improvements. Here are the parts removed:

Here are the results.
Manifold pressure, screen vs no screen
<img src="http://images.fotki.com/v6/photos/7/7305/130918/mafscreencopy-or.jpg">

Here's the Grams per second flow through the MAF:

Bottom line, 10% improvement of measured boost pressure at the manifold. 6.7% increased flow through the MAF. More free lunch from the shack. Have fun!

Did you damage the screen taking it out, or is that wear?

Default ....which reminds me of a little story......I may have told this before....

A friend of mine in TN had a really killer '87 Buick Grand National. The list of mods is way too long to list, but let's just say it was a very docile everyday driver, but at the track, after tweaking the DFI system, it was a solid 10.20 car.

Anyway, we were out testing one fine day, and did all the normal prep work, one step including taking the air filter off and running a 4" section of clothes dryer tubing under the front bumper. Long story short, after his wheels-up launch, he gets about 1/2 way down the track and the car just falls on its face. We feared the worst, but after making the trip to the end of the track, we found that the dryer tubing came loose, and the turbo was trying its damdest to suck the charcoal cannister into the engine.
