so, i thought raffi was a wee bit off his rocker when he cut all the little areas out.
i was wrong. he was certifiably insane. should be in an institution at this moment...
anyway, the plan was to cut the center section out of a 3.2 rear valence and then put in actual mesh -- creating something similar to zgtt (bob)'s setup.
but it's a HUGE pain in the ***.
i'm pretty proficient with a dremel, but it's a long and demanding job (seriously, raffi is a madman -- cutting the whole center section out is driving me batty, i can't imagine just cutting out each little opening). further, there are a lot of angles where it's near impossible to cut what you want to cut without the dealie where you attach the bit to the dremel rubbing and thus scratching the outsides of the valence. beyond that, when you get the center cut out, it's difficult to work with the thing because you've destroyed its structural integrity.
so, here's where i am at the moment:

still have a lot of sanding work ahead of me, not to mention figuring out where and how i'm going to attach the mesh...
honestly, i doubt it'll be worth the effort in the end, and i'm almost certain at this point that it's not going to turn out as well as i had hoped -- it probably won't even end up on the car.
