dealing with that you can disconnect the Haldex and drive the car in FWD mode. Bet you didn't know that.

Default Been some discussion of that around these parts...

but not a DEFINITIVE answer. So, did said AofA rep say how you might go about disengaging the Quattro system??? Does this mean you could dyno a quattro on a 2-track dyno?

Anymore tid-bits?

Default No he didn't say, but the car has to be put in FWD mode to follow this TSB.

The same symptoms I've been having on my car.<ul><li><a href="http://cory.charltonfamily.org/gti/vwtechcontent/audipdf/a300101.pdf">TSB</a></li></ul>

Default Dyno'n on a 2wd dyno will not account for additional drive train losses of the Haldex and will

therefore give false indications of HP.

Default RE

You can actually remove the Drive shaft that goes to the Haldex unit in the rear.

There wont be any torque applied to the haldex unit, and no power will be lost. All to easy - you need to remove about 12 or so bolts.

There isnt a differntial in the front transmission, so all the torque would be applied to the front wheels, and not unload on the uncoupled drive shaft conector.

There might be a tiny differnce with a FWD modle, which does not have the gearing assoicated for the rear output shaft. I dont think that would play enogh of a role to even factor in dyno pulls.

Only one way to make sure:
Test a stock FWD 180
and a Q 180 with the drive shaft removed.
I would wager on there being no differece.

You could even modify a haldex unit to provide 50 50 torque transfer, but it would drive like an old ford pick up with a locked diff. But thats one thing i plan to try when i get my tt

Default I think his point was that the *dyno* reading from a TTQ with the Haldex

disengaged would not be a *true* power reading since in the real world the Haldex would be connected and would *rob* more of the power.

Quick Reply: More Haldex knowledge. Found out from the Audi Rep that I've been ....
