Default Yep. And in a car that'll be a bit less than a quarter...

... ton heavier than the new TT as well.

Default Nope. That (along with the RWD/AWD...

... B8 proposal) died the death of a thousand razors earlier this year. What kind of an Bozo would propose a RWD A4 anyway?

The weight savings is from the move from a steel unitbody to ASF construction.

Default Sounds like the NA 3.2L VR6 with FSI to me........

truely sad for a 2006 model IMO. Sorry but by that time the Japanese will all have over 300hp. Someday Audi needs to recognize that there are other car makers beside MB and BMW......

Default Nope.

... At the moment the powertrain lineup at launch to launch +18 months is comprised of 4-cylinder engines only.

There are still a coupla of years until the car lands and the platform allows for a VR6 install, but it's seen as a mid-cycle enhancement by the Lords of Product Planning.

Your comment about 300HP isn't that valid... if they can keep the mass down on the new car. i.e. Lotus Elise.

And don't paint with one brush when you say "the Japanese." There is no such thing. For example, don't expect 300HP from a naturally aspirated RX-8. Ford is throwing damned little money down the rathole that is the Renesis Rotary engine. As for Mitsu. It's a case of one foot in the grave with those boys. Don't think I'd hold out a lot of hope for an U.S. spec Evo IX. And the smaller Colt Evo they're going rallying with is gonna be hard pressed to make 260HP in demon-tweak road tune. That 'cause it's only going to displace 1.6L though. I can't seem to find Toyota's 300HP+ car. The next generation Lexus GS and SC models perhaps. But neither is even remotely a TT competitor.

Now if the next TT is a porky as the 350Z is gonna get come its mid-cycle change, your 300HP comment is closer to spot on.

Default I will believe it when i see it....>>>

have not seen a manufacturer as of late " with the exception of Mazda" deliver a car close to the "proposed" target weight. The A8 is not what i would call a lightweight you know...and the new A6 is a little heavier than its predecessor too...seems like a trend. IMHO.
