Never hurts to ask, beg, whine, wheedle -
Whatever! If you are not a silver tongued devil, get coached by one. Every time my TT goes in for whatever, it's introduced as a third child. My son lived close by and used the car for about six months. He's really the savvy one in the family - and he talked them into replacing the cluster while I was tooling around town in a (forgive me) Lexus RS 330. I've learned to be almost as insistent...

Best course of action and the one I'm going to take is -->
object to the settlement. Yeah, you have to write the letter to 5 different groups and you have to stay in the class. My objection is that they have excluded most of the cars that have bad clusters. Six years from delivery is not long enough, they should have covered ALL cars from build day one for 10 years from build date. That gets all of you in the class. The way it is now, they have effeftively eliminated almost all cars with bad clusters. They are only extending the warranty for two years.
I have found that submitting written comments works. If enough object to the settlement, the judge may revisit the decision and include more vehicles in the class.
Mine had the cluster replaced under warranty at about 18 months and I am just about to get to six years (this August). I'd sure like a 10 year warranty on that replaced cluster, but the clock started ticking when teh car was dilvered not when the cluster was replaced. They should have written the ruling to include this case as well.
