So I am at the car wash, and as they are drying my car, a new Lexus sc430 pulls up to be dried as well. After a couple of minutes go by, I decide to go over to my car to make sure they did not scrape the rims on the track. As I finish surveying the 4th wheel I look up to discover that the car wash attendants are working on something furiously in front of the lexus. Keeping in mind that this is a hand wash, no machines, I walk over there to discover that the Lexus emblem had fallen off and the grill was loose. I could barely stifle a laugh! and I chuckled all the way home

Yup, saw the similarities of the TT, but it was different enough for me. I hope people are happy with their purchase if they buy one.
That is funny about the grill/emblem though. ;-)

I have to say that the 430 evokes imagery straight out of F Scott Fitzgerald's The Great Gatsby. The car is impressive in the flesh and I was in one tonight as a passenger. Powerful, smooth and quiet. A luxurious ride without being soft or mushy. The Mark Levinson sound system is simply incredible. I have a bi-amped system in my home powered by the Mark Levinson #23 amps into Martin Logan Statements and the sound in the 430 was just as transparent and correctly imaged. The simplicity of the interior is striking with very subtle leather and natural wood accents in a style that's very Bauhaus. A little high in the hips from a road stance point of view but that's the very look that conjures up the Hamptons of the 1920's. I think it's way cool and the first refreshing step that Lexus has taken.

I don't know what it is, maybe that they ripped off styling cues from too many things and mashed them all together, but the car just doesn't "work" for me at a design level. I think that's why it looks far better at some angles than others, and why it looks better in person than in pics -- it just lacks any unity in design.
I agree with that Forbes article posted early today, this car just looks sad, while I think everybody agrees the TT looks happy.
