As I said, I'll give them several shots at fixing it. If it becomes obvious that isn't going to happen, then I will consider aftermarket.

Bringing the car to the dealer for repair should, in theory, encourage Audi to find a fix for the problem. Of course, that doesn't always happen, the FWD tranny problem is a good example. However, Audi did recently change the part number for the diverter valve, so that at least suggests that they are attempting to rectify the problem.<p><img src="http://home.san.rr.com/winefinds/1.jpg" border="0">

Default The Bailey valve appears to work just fine.

I've had mine in for almost two weeks and no noises. Throttle response seems improved. It is pretty close to an exact replacement for the OEM part size-wise. The OEM valve has a recessed top with an integral vacuum fitting. The top of the Bailey valve is not recessed and the fitting screws into the top of the valve. Thus, the new assembly ends up being about 1/2" taller than the OEM. I trimmed about a 1/4" off my vacuum hose and everything fits just fine.
