Move back to 17"? Are SSR Comps durable enough at 18" for a daily driver?

I think I've settled on the SSR Comps for looks and weight but originally I discounted them because I was afraid of their light weight making them more susceptible to bending.
So the question is should I move back to 17" wheels for the SSR Competitions and give myself a better chance of survival or is it worth it for the looks to stay at 18". Anyone have any experience with these wheels at 18"? If I do move to 17" I can get 7.5" or 8" width, any comments?
After doing a lot of web searchs I have found that there certainly are people who have bent these rims on potholes but then I've bent factory and after market rims myself on strong impacts (like a 2x4 in the road).

18's have been bent on smooth track only use...
Jyoteen to name one person. He had them for track wheels only, and i think all but one was bent when he had them checked.
No thanks for me in the 18".
