Default mp3 player?

Anyone know of an mp3 player that will work with the factory head unit other than the phatbox? Or know where i can get the protocol between the cd changer and head unit so I can make my own?

Does the factory head unit do cd-text?

Default I bought an iPod, works great

I bought the blitzsafe adapter from autotoys for $65, you have to remove the cd changer in order for it to work, but who needs a changer?

Default See Jeff Bipe's page or check out my page for interfacing into the CD unit...

Default Not quite what I'm looking for...

The iPod is great and all, but I was looking more of a signals interface. I'm looking for one that will use the head unit buttons to do track skip and such, much like the phatBox does. Also I will want it to sit where the cd changer currently does. I have some extra hardware sitting around so if I can find the protocol between the changer and the head unit, I could make one up myself. Or if there is one that doesn't cost $900, I would want to see that.

Default It wasn't bad, the hardest part was pulling the changer, you have to remove your trim

the actual install wasn't bad, i ran cable from the changer area up through my trans tunnel, to a cell phone mount where i put my ipod. one of these days i'll take pictures and post em here....

There's no reason not to have a Phatbox. Everything else falls short.
