MTBE in gasoline. Good or bad for performance? No difference? Local 76 offers non-MTBE gas. Ideas?

we would be much better off with the gas that every state uses but california....many studies have indicated tMBTE byproducts of combustion might be linked to systemic nerve damage...because of that and other concerns this fuel additive is banned in europe...this additive is as 'old school' as it gets...the ****'s added MBTE to v1/2 rockets kerosene fuel to reduce the soot to escape detection.

...it takes $20 dollars of 100 octane to bring a tank of 91 up to 93...why should we pay $40 for 93...and at the same time have all the other incidental concerns related to health...it's about $$$...and $$$ only....europe has given up on this additive many years ago...

Bunch of environmental idiots.
Persuaded the oil companies to use MTBE in the gas as an oxygenate (to promote cleaner burning) even though they were warned of its toxic nature.
After years of use (and ****ty fuel as a result) it's now found to have leaked into ground water and poisoned hundreds of locations. The clean up will be an absolute nightmare.
CARB are the people who now want to beat industry into the ground by regulating diesel engines.
