Does MTM have space ECUs or do you swap the actual chip, I though one company swapped actual chips.

Thanks!

Default The Gen II as far as I know is for the 225TT's

I don't know for certain if the MTM 180TT chips ever got to a GenII or not. You can either call Stratmosphere or Hoppen Motorsports.

MTM and Garrett both use sockets, at least I think MTM uses them as well. APR solders their chip to the board and makes it so you cna't remove it.

Default Larry do you swap chips when you go in for service? or have you ever swapped chips?

Is it hard? Should it be done?

Default I have swapped ECU's, not chips . ..

The dealer I go to now does not require me to put my stock ECU in. They know I have a chip in the car and have only asked me to put the stock unit back in when they needed to confirm something.

I would get a spare ECU no matter what companies chip you go with. Just because the chip is not visible to the VAG tool, does not mean your dealer can't remove the ECU and replace it with another one. The dealers can send ECU's back to Germany for testing anytime they want to.

Default We stock ECUs and send you a modified ECU for your...

installation. After you are happy, you can return your CORE or pay us for it and keep your original ECU. We try to make it easy. -Pete

MTM for the TT
