Sharon(?) from the New Jersey office rang me up at work today. Apparently she got my name from the NHSTA online form I filled out complaining about the bubbling Bridgestone RE040's. She made it sound like they were starting to look into the situation more because of all the recent heat the tire market has taken. She was far from a car expert, just a pleasant office worker / information taker. I really didn't have the time to answer all of her questions, but I did my best to be nice so I could drop the DV question on her. She didn't have any information on what Audi was going to do about the bad tires; I had already gotten rid of mine so I really didn't care to pressure her on this issue - I sold the rims and tossed the tires at the first sign of problems and the lack of help from my local dealer. She said that her office is beginning to recognize that there may be a problem with the RE040's and they are gathering information right now. She wasn't able to provide any more information on the tire issue.
After 15-20 minutes, I pause to ask her if she has heard anything about DV, Diverter Valve, Turbo Bi-pass valve, or any sort of valve problems. She has never heard this mentioned before. I give her the run down on the signs of a bad DV, and how I am disappointed that I am going to have to buy and after-market part to fix my $40,000 car. She puts me on hold to ask some co-workers and/or a manager. She comes back online after a couple of minutes and says the co-workers haven't heard anything, and that her manager basically didn't acknowledge, nor deny the problem - typical Audi `lawyer' speak. I ask if they are working on a fix or what and she had no answer. This is what I really hate about Audi; they just don't seem to care. It seems as though executive bonuses are tied to sales and not to customer satisfaction. The only advice she could give me was to call the stinking 800 number again and register another complaint. It seems as though the DV issue is not common knowledge, at least not in the NJ office. I am no longer hopeful that Audi will release a fix for this problem.
