Default My comments on the recent Bose modification (MEGA bass).

You may have seen my post regarding the work I had done last week on my new TTR. Just brought it in to do some little tweaks and checks. I was really unhappy with the overall bass of the Bose system, and from what I read on the TT discussion group, there might have been a way to boost it. Here are my thoughts after having it completed ...

Background notes: I'm comparing this to the SLK Bose stereo, which IMO was EXCELLENT (tight, deep sub-woofer, you could feel at the back of the seat). And, for the last few days I've been listening to the following CDs - the Armageddon soundtrack, Adriano Celentano and Styx (to each, our own ... don't laugh). All of these CDs are really, really well recorded and on a good/great system sound excellent - good to test the bass, etc. Prior to the SLK, I've had hi-end stuff and think I have a pretty critical ear ... don't even ask about our home stereo!

- Pre-MEGA Bass settings: Fader +2, Balance 0, Bass +5, Treble +2/+3.
- Post-MEGA Bass settings: Fader +1, Balance 0, Bass +3/+4, Treble +1.

MUCH improved! I found that the whole range has shifted. Turning the bass any higher than 4 (but it goes to +6 now) gets a bit distorted and over modulated, but between +3 and +4 it sounds better. I'm able to turn the fader up front one notch too, to get a better balanced high end.

I like it ... I think it'll keep me from upgrading the sub-woofer entirely. Sam Sound, a reputable hi-end car stereo place in my area quoted me approximately $650 to do it right (custom box in the trunk, amp, etc.). Oh, the little Bose display is gone (as the documentation said it would be) ... I think there's also less of a delay when the music or radio kicks in now too (before, it was: On, Bose, Music -- now it's: On, Music).

The nice thing is - if I don't like it afterall, I'll just have it brought back to the Bose defaults ... easier than pulling amps and speakers out, right?

That's it --<ul><li><a href="https://www.audiworld.com/forum/m/tt/msgs/146669.phtml">Complete notes from my first service</a></li></ul>

Default Hi ViaTT To get the Fader to work, did you re-route the wires on your AMP? Could you

explain exactly how you did that for me?
