We use Dell 100% at work, except all my workstations, which I build myself from scratch. Just built a box for my girlfriends sister, P4 2.66, Gigabyte board, 1GB ram, 120GB hard drive, DVD-RW, etc- NO monitor. For about $900.00. Dell wanted $1,100 and only had a 60GB hard drive, 512MB RAM, and who knows what motherboard, hard drive type etc.
You should look into building your own box! Be happy to help if you need some suggestions

once in a while and save the images to an external backup drive.
Or if you are a bit more technical and on a linux platform partimage is free (fyi if you have to have ntfs "write" capability use captive).
Before formatting your drive you may have been able to buy an adpater so you could plug your laptop drive into one of your desktops and maybe copy over some of that data you wanted.
Unfourtunately I dont have any videos or to many pics to offer, just maybe what would be considered crass advice![Smile](https://www.audiworld.com/forums/images/smilies/smile.gif)
The only way my vaio is leaving, will be when its pried out of my cold dead hands. Maybe I'm just lucky with mine, I have a picturebook from a few years ago. I did ditch the windows ME as soon as I got it though. I travel quite a bit and its held up great. I like the features mine offers and with the extended battery, 14hrs battery life isnt bad. Here is a link to one http://www.stevebarr.com/cgi-bin/cgiwrap/barrst/goto.pl?c1vn
Actually when it dies I'd be interested in seeing the oqo.com PC.
All of our buisness PC's are dell's. They have been reliable, and thats what I suggest to people who don't build their own PC's, and/or want warranty and such.
People who live a bit more on the bleeding edge might like to look over the hardware articles at 2cpu.com,hardocp.com, etc...

it's only the 2nd time in 3 years I had this computer, not sure if that's good or bad, your right about ghosting or getting a back-up.
