My ECU died! A weird thing happened today, after a day of trying misc dv's and bov, my ecu
accumulated several dtc. Later, I replaced my sidemarker lights with hyper red bulbs and used my Super Plasm PIAAs for my boost gauge. Once I replaced the lights, I drove my cat into my garage and turned it off. Remembering I had all those dtc's, I connected my VAG. Hmm...wasnt' connecting to the control module. I didn't think much of it, as my connector had been acting up. I look at the instrument cluster, why isn't my CEL light on? (Stays on when the key is in the ON pistion).
I try to start the car...nothing. Just hear it trying to turn over. I try to connect to other control modules and it worked. Uh-oh! Is my ecu dead? I try several times to turn on my car with no success. Get my other ecu, plug that in, connect with the VAG and it connects, and I'm able to start the car. Pull out this ecu and put the bad one in.
I attempt to connect with the VAg again, this time, it connects to the engine control module, but in the box that displays your ecu type, "THI - IST - HE" was written instead? WTF!!! THIS IS THE??? This was freaky! What does that mean? I try to start the car, nothing.
I pulled the plug again, as the first time sort of resetted the ecu. Plug it back in. I turn the key...the CEL light is back, and the VAG connects. Turn the key...vvrrrroooommm...the car starts!! WTF is going on? I then earse all the dtc's, turn off the car and wait a few minutes. Try again, still works.
Has anyone ever had this happen?
